On 3rd December 2023, SONGWECOM Secretariat in collaboration with the Ministries responsible for Water resources in the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Malawi held a side meeting with the African Development Bank in the wake of COP 28 sessions held in Dubai. Some of the attendees to the meeting included Ministers responsible for Water, Finance, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Minister responsible for Water Malawi, Permanent Secretary for Ministry responsible for Energy and the Vice President Power, Energy Climate Change and Green Growth of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group. The aim of the meeting was to mobilise funding for implementing the Songwe River Basin Development Programme (SRBDP) through support from the AfDB.
