African Development Bank (AfDB)

The African Development Bank (AfDB) is a major financial institution established in 1964 to promote economic development and social progress across Africa. Headquartered in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, the Bank provides loans, grants, and technical assistance to African governments and private sector projects.

AfDB focuses on key priority areas known as the “High 5s”: Light up and power Africa, Feed Africa, Industrialize Africa, Integrate Africa, and Improve the quality of life for Africans. Through these priorities, the Bank supports infrastructure development such as roads, energy systems, water supply, and telecommunications, while also investing in agriculture, education, and healthcare.

The institution consists of three main entities: the African Development Bank, the African Development Fund (ADF), and the Nigeria Trust Fund (NTF). Its membership includes both African (regional) and non-African (non-regional) countries, making it a global partnership for Africa’s development.

AfDB plays a crucial role in addressing challenges like poverty, climate change, and economic inequality. By mobilizing resources and fostering partnerships, it contributes significantly to sustainable growth and regional integration across the continent. For more information visit the their website:https://www.afdb.org/en
