The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) hosts the Centre for Climate Change Studies (CCCS), a leading academic and research institution dedicated to addressing climate change issues in Tanzania and beyond. The centre was established to strengthen capacity in climate science, adaptation, and mitigation, particularly in vulnerable regions of Africa.

CCCS focuses on interdisciplinary research, bringing together experts from fields such as environmental science, economics, geography, and policy studies. Its work includes climate modeling, impact assessments, and the development of strategies to help communities cope with climate variability and extreme weather events. The centre also emphasizes the importance of sustainable development and resilience building.

In addition to research, CCCS offers postgraduate training programs, workshops, and outreach activities aimed at equipping students, policymakers, and stakeholders with the knowledge and skills needed to respond to climate challenges. It collaborates with regional and international partners, including universities, governments, and organizations such as the United Nations.

Through its research, education, and policy engagement, the UDSM Centre for Climate Change Studies plays a vital role in advancing climate knowledge, supporting evidence-based decision-making, and promoting sustainable solutions to environmental challenges in Tanzania and the wider region. For more information visit the their website:https://www.udsm.ac.tz/cccs
